16th Street Baptist Church

16th Street Baptist Church was made famous during the Civil Rights Movement as the departure for marches. on September 16, 1963 twenty-two injured and four young girls were killed after theĀ  Ku Klux Klan bombed the Birmingham , Alabama church. It became a National Historic Landmark in 2006. The church is still in use today and serves as a landmark in Birmingham Civil Rights District.
