Apalachicola Fort Site

The Apalachicola Fort Site  was established by Spain on the Chattahoochee River in 1690. It was used for only one year and then soon abandoned.  This wattle and daub blockhouse was an attempt to  gain influence over the Lower Creek Indians. The Apalachicola Fort Site is located at Holy Trinity, Alabama. It was declared a National Historic Landmark 1964.
