Built in 1840 it is described as an “unusually sophisticated” Greek Revival style plantation house by the National Park Service . A stairway ascends the interior to a bridge-like landing that overlooks the plantation. Barton Hall is also know as the Cunningham Plantation and located near Cherokee , Alabama. It was built by Armstead Barton in the 1840s and is a antebellum plantation house with an observatory on the rooftop. Barton Hall was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973.
