Bottle Creek Site was Occupied between AD 1250 and 1550 and located within the Mobile-Tensaw river delta on Mound Island. The Bottle Creek Site contains eighteen mounds from the Mississippian cultural period. The site is to believed an important center for trade for the central Gulf Coast and the Mobile Delta region. The site served as vital point for trade along the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta that connected to river systems allowing easy travel to areas in the south. It became a National Historic Landmark in 1994.
