Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church was made famous as the starting point of Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965. It also played an important role for the adoption of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The reaction to the “Bloody Sunday March” helped to pave the way for the Voting Rights Act in Congress.
