On February 4, 1861 six seceding Southern states Delegates met at The First Confederate Capitol. The “Constitution for the Provisional Government of the Confederate States of America.” was adopted. On the west portico on February 18 Jefferson Davis was inaugurated . It was also the meeting place of the Confederate States until May 22, 1861. The capital was soon moved to beautiful Richmond, Virginia.
