Completed in 1834 Fort Morgan was home to Confederate forces during the Battle of Mobile Bay. Union Navy Admiral David Farragut took Mobile Bay resulting in cutting off Confederate shipping in Mobile Bay. Fort Morgan was completed in 1834 and is known as “one of the finest examples of military architecture in the New World.” Fort Morgan became a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
