Located roughly 3 miles east of Talladega is the J. L. M. Curry House. Lawyer, educator , and politician, Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry called this home. He played a large role in the expansion and improvement of the public school system and the establishment of training schools for teachers throughout the South. In 1965 the J. L. M. Curry House became a National Historic Landmark.
