Founded 1881 by Booker T. Washington the Tuskegee Institute was one of the most popular African American universities in the US . The Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark. George Washington Carver was an great acclaimed educator who taught at the Institute. The School focused on a curriculum vocational and industrial education for African Americans.
