Yuchi Town Site is an archaeological site that once was occupied Yuchi and Apalachicola tribes. Displaced by quickly growing American Frontier the Yuchi Tribe soon were displaced. The old Yuchi Town Site is located in a remote area of Russell County, near the town of Fort Benning,Alabama.
Once a thriving Apalachicola village there was signs of a busy indian culture who made beeds, aboriginal pottery, and many others items. Also in the area were Indian Graves and many artifacts supporting the culture. The area was occupied roughly from A.D. 1650-1715/ During this time period the spanish influence was in the area. The Yuchi Occupied the area until 1926 when they were removed and forced to Oklahoma
