Locations Of Gold in Alabama

Gold has been found in many area’s in Alabama including Wetumpka.Wedowee, Wadley, Tallassee,Talladega National Forest, Talladega, Rockford, Roanoke,  Red Hill,Oxford,  Prattville,  Pell City, Parkdale,  Mignon, Martin Lake, Louina, Lineville, Lafayette,Lake Mitchell,  Jordan Lake, Goodwater, Fort McClellan, Heflin, Gold Hill, Dadeville, Cragford, Childersburg, Camp Hill, Ashland, Carrville, Anniston,  Auburn, Columbiana, Clanton, Alabaster, Alexander City and Calera.

Alabama has over 140 old Gold Mines around the state. Gold was discovered around 1830 just a few years after gold was discovered in Georgia. Alabama had several gold districts that were worked before gold miners left for the California Gold rush in 1849

Goldville at one time was home to at least 3,000 people and 14 stores.  Alabama largest gold boom happened around  1845 in Arbacoochee. Roughly  5,000 inhabitants populated Arbacoochee around 1845.
